Hibiscus
Egypt
Tart, ruby-red, and gloriously refreshing. Like cranberries met a flower and decided to become tea.
The Story
Hibiscus (also called karkade, jamaica, or sorrel depending on where you are) is beloved in hot climates worldwide. The dried flowers of Hibiscus sabdariffa brew into an intensely red, tart drink that's traditionally consumed for its cooling properties. It's often sweetened and served over ice.

Brewing Tips
Hibiscus is very tart—most people add sweetener. It makes exceptional iced tea; brew strong and pour over ice with sugar or honey. The color is dramatic and stains; choose your vessel accordingly. Blends well with other herbs.
