Russian Caravan
Russia/China Trade Route
A smoky, malty blend honoring the camel caravans that carried tea from China to Russia.
The Story
Before the Trans-Siberian Railway, tea traveled from China to Russia by camel caravan—an 18-month journey. Legend says the tea absorbed campfire smoke during the trip, gaining its distinctive flavor. Whether true or not, Russian Caravan blends now intentionally include Lapsang Souchong for smokiness, alongside keemun and oolong. It's history in a cup.

Brewing Tips
The smokiness should be subtle, not overwhelming—if your blend is too smoky, try another brand. Good with or without milk; try both. Russians traditionally serve it strong from a samovar, diluted with hot water to taste. A slice of lemon and a cube of sugar is traditional.
